I am a Sudanese artist whose relationship with art began in childhood. What started as a simple attempt to draw my thoughts and wishes with colored pencils gradually became a defining part of my identity. My mother was among the first to recognize this connection, encouraging me to see art as more than a childhood interest, but as a lasting form of expression.
I began participating in art exhibitions during my school years, where my work was displayed in recognition of my artistic abilities. Later, I participated in exhibitions at Sudanese universities, finding opportunities to connect with others through a shared appreciation of art. During the Sudanese Revolution, I created a mural titled A Woman’s Voice Is a Revolution. I also created visually expressive artworks for events addressing violence against women, using art to engage with social issues and communicate ideas through powerful visual imagery. One of my artworks was featured on the cover of the October 2024 issue of the architectural magazine at SAL School of Architecture in India. I continue to share my work through social media, particularly Instagram and Facebook.
My artistic practice explores conceptual art through multiple mediums, with face painting playing a particularly important role in my work. I use the human face as a canvas for expressing ideas, emotions, and personal or social narratives, often combining face painting with photography to develop and document my concepts. Rather than limiting myself to a single technique, I allow each idea to guide my choice of materials and visual language.
Alongside my artistic practice, I study architecture, a field I was drawn to for its creative possibilities and its connection to visual expression. I have also volunteered to teach art to primary-school children, an experience that allowed me to share with them some of the expressive freedom and sense of connection that art has brought into my own life.
For me, art is an evolving language through which I communicate with the world, explore experiences and emotions, and give visual form to ideas that words alone cannot fully express. My practice remains open to different mediums and possibilities, shaped by the experiences that influence me and the concepts I seek to bring to life.
